| Product profile | |
| The PR 1750/50 program development tool is used as a programming system for the controllers of the X-Family. It facilitates the creation of customer-specific software. Available standard software can be extended and adapted precisely to specific customer needs. In this way, the controllers of the X-Family can develop their full potential. Programming with PR1750/50 is based on IEC Standard 61131 Part 3 and includes all IEC attributes. IEC 61131 was developed in order to standardize the various languages, instruction sets and concepts in the field of automation systems. The interfaces between the PLC and the programming system, the various statements, programming languages, and the processing and structuring of projects are all unified in this Standard. The application of PLC and programming systems in accordance with IEC 61131 offers the advantage of platform portability and the use of uniform concepts. This leads to a reduction in the cost of applying automation systems. The PR1750/50 programming tool can be used to produce application programs that can execute typical‚ real time tasks, such as interlocking and sequence control. PR1750/50 has been enhanced with special functions in order to meet the specific requirements of weighing and batching technology. These functions include the execution of user dialogs, communication with a personal computer, database functions and, of course, specially defined weighing functions. This high degree of flexibility and performance is achieved by means of the parallel, virtually simultaneous, execution of several Program Organization Units (POU). Software schemes are downloaded in full to a controller. Individual software module testing is supported by a powerful debug function, which has been expanded further in the new version of PR1750/50. Programming takes place in the ST (Structure Text) and IL (Instruction List) text languages, as well as in the FBD (Function Block Diagram) and LD (Ladder Diagram) graphic languages. PR 1750/50 makes programming easier by the fact that it runs under the application-friendly Windows user interface. The programs are loaded into an X-Family controller via a serial interface or via the Ethernet. | |
| Online Debugging | |
| The debug function has been significantly extended and now provides both a convenient test function and very useful error search facilities. Variables can be monitored ‘online’ whilst the program is running. At the same time, data about variables can also be recorded via an analyzer and stored in a file, similar to a data logger function. By using breakpoints, the code can be paused when required and executed line by line. The ‘Single Step’, ‘Step Into’ and ‘Step Over’ functions, among others, are available for this purpose. In addition, variables can be modified in parallel. In this way, programming errors can be found quickly and efficiently. | |
| Input/Output Simulation | |
| A variety of input and output conditions can be simulated easily. In this way, conditional processes and also more complex behavior of process plant can be adjusted and tested. This simulation is carried out in real time using sophisticated ‘embedded PLC simulation. | |
| ReadyToGo Software Formats | |
| A variety of ready-made, pre-prepared software formats is included in the Online Help service. These ReadyToGo formats can be started directly in Help, i.e. they can be opened, compiled, loaded into an X-Family controller and executed. In this way, PR1750/50 makes access to programming significantly easier. The time required for creating individual projects is also reduced. | |
| Text and graphic editors | |
| The text and graphic editors have been implemented for programming the program codes. In the text editor, programming is possible in the languages ST (Structure Text) and IL (Instruction List). The graphical editor provides FBD (Function Block Diagram) and LD (Ladder Diagram) as programming language. Furthermore, user defined data types, I/O configurations or variable declarations can be entered. | |
| The help system | |
| PR 1750/50 has a Help function that operates in tune with the context and supplies Help topics for all parts of the programme. The Help function can be called up via the F1 key both to access dialogbased Online Help and to select required topics from the Table of Contents. In addition, the ReadyToGo projects mentioned earlier can be found under the Help menu. | |
| The page layout editor | |
| Page layouts can be formatted quickly with the aid of the page layout editor. In this way the user can format the page layout to individual requirements for printing purposes and decide the position on the page at which a programme code worksheet should appear. | |
| The project tree editor | |
| The project tree editor is a powerful yet easy to use tool that aids programme organization and project management. It facilitates the structuring of projects within four sub trees. In this way, for example, Programme Organisation Units can be consolidated into groups, in order to provide an overview format for large projects. | |
